Though WCAS is not a research oriented Higher Educational Institution, still it endeavors to pursue some of its research activities for its researchers. To accomplish this, a new Research and Development Cell was started in the year 2015. The main aim of the Research & Development Cell is to facilitate researcher for conducting research. This includes providing encouragement to the researcher so that quality research can be conducted. The faculty members not possessing Doctorate Degree are encouraged to complete their PhD. Research scholars are advised to submit good research projects to “The Research Council” (TRC) of Oman in order to get funds for their research. WCAS Research and Development Cell supports research collaboration with other HEIs in and outside Oman. WCAS also provides support to its faculties by providing seed capital money for conducting internal projects.

WCAS also has mechanism to support to its faculties for possible collaborative research work with the parent university (BIT, Mesra). Possible areas identified are as follows: Agriculture & Plant Biotechnology, Biosensor & Nano – Biotechnology, Algai Biotechnology, Down Stream Processing, Biofuel Production, Food Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, Industrial Biotechnology, Biomedical Instrumentation, Microbial Resources, Bioprocess Engendering, Microbial Transformation, Bioresources and Bioprocessing, Medicinal Plants, Machine Learning, Data Mining, Artificial Intelligence, Soft & Evolutionary Computing, Bio Informatics, Pattern Recognition, Digital Image Processing, Medical imaging, Computer Vision, Automated Mineral Characterization, Parallel Computing, High Performance Computing, Grid Computing, Wireless Sensor Networks, Electric Drives (DC and AC drives of various Groups), Power electronics and drives for process control and automation, Power electronics and drives for traction applications, Hybrid electronics and drives for traction applications, Hybrid Electric Vehicles, Fault tolerances drives, Advance charging systems, Integration of Solar source to Grid, Smart Grid, Power System Protection, Reliability analysis, DSP applications in power systems, Integration of Renewable sources to Grid, Micro Grid, Power System Deregulation, Power System Analysis, Modeling and control of linear and non – linear systems, DSP based advanced control system, System identification and optimization techniques, Optimal control system, Robotics, Image and signal processing, MMI (Man Machine Interface)
